Pastor James Malkemes                                          About The Pastor

Dear Friends,

One of my favorite verses is Luke 6:38:  “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over,  will be poured into your lap.”

Extravagant giving will always be seen in the life of a “gimper”.  Jesus is talking about the broad principle of giving.  He is saying whatever you give is going to be given back to you in good measure and running over.

Let me remind you that the context of this chapter teaches us that if you give out judgment, condemnation, harsh words or unloving actions, each will be given back to you in good measure and running over.

Rather, let’s think about the ”gimper” who gives good things such as peace, forgiveness, love, help or encouragement, this person will receive an overflowing harvest of those things.

The emphasis of this verse is to catch the vision of giving not getting.  The “gimper” knows how to give – give – give!  Oh, by the way, when you do, your heavenly Father will make sure you get much more in return.  The reward comes from God because the “gimper” has allowed God to do a work in their heart in the area of giving – not getting!

The “gimper” has a generous heart and knows that giving is a great and fun thing to do.  Let God free you from the fear and grief that keeps you from turning loose and giving.  I pray that you can come to the place where you give simply because you have an unselfish heart of gratitude toward God.

I would like to encourage you to support your church with your attendance and by inviting someone to join you.  This is where God has put us, so let’s all work together so that NJBC will continue to be a strong vibrant church for Jesus.

In His service,

Pastor Jim Malkemes

“Let us not become weary in doing good,
for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people,
especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”

Galatians 6:9-10
